Slow design is an emerging design concept derived from the development of the current era. Many countries have built a large number of factories for economic development to solve basic human needs. Unfortunately, the development process inevitably destroys the ecological environment, and many resources are declining. However, human survival depends on nature. Maintaining ecological balance and protecting the environment are fundamental issues related to human survival and social development.
In my Slow Design II – Find Your Balance, I display ways of playing with natural materials and textures to relieve stress and rediscover the joy and balance of life.
Consumerism prevails in society after many industrial revolutions. The capital power behind consumerism has promoted the development of fast design, and mass production of various programmatic designs has caused a certain degree of waste of resources. Consumers chased the pleasure of consumption and ignored the emotional interaction with the product. Over time, their quality of life is significantly compromised. By designing a set of experimental fonts for slow architecture, these fonts draw inspiration from wabi-sabi and modern architecture, calling on people to slow down the pace of life and feel the fun of things themselves in the process.
A series of posters were created based on the experimental work of letter design, which contains various materials such as napa leaves and knitted fabrics, giving people a more intuitive feeling through the materials themselves. These materials represent what people like to do when they relieve stress through interviews. They show how people can slow down in a dull or stressful life to find the joy and balance of life. Natural textures and fresh colors show the attitude of letting nature take its course. The posters show how people can slow down in a dull or stressful life to find the joy and balance of life. All together, Find Your Balance shows the importance of natural simplicity for better mental well-being.
